I think I’ve had enough of all this plastic touch Being born and reborn in familiar disguises And ones I don’t recognise. It’s easy to live when you lie. Use a little understanding please Nothing’s gonna bring them to their knees. I make it all up. There are no tears in the cup. There’s only what I’m given. You don’t have to act; you can just turn your back And deconstruct culture. Use a little understanding please Nothing’s gonna bring them to their knees. See this plastic Lazarus A simulation of me. Find a bottle by the silky waves Fill it up with the sea foam Bury it in the garden for a number of days And take it home. You get nothing for your anger. You get nothing for your sense of despair. You get nothing for the parting in your hair. Use a little understanding please Nothing’s gonna bring them to their knees. See this plastic Lazarus A simulation of me.

Apple Tree 03:52
Time is walking up to me And shedding all of its golden leaves. Oh, life never gives enough For following her love. Time was, I was walking to the bay And sailing out to my apple tree. Is there something in another world That might uncover me. Shine, a flicker of a day A camera flash and there’s nothing left. Just sit and take a breath. Cover you shade. Time was, you ate an apple seed And the warp became the weft. Is there something in another world That might uncover me?

Black Mariah 04:09
I never knew that I was sitting down Until I stood up on my feet. I never knew that would miss you girl Until you were walking away from me. I can see it clearly now My consolation isn’t the fix. Even though this drawing out I endeavour to persist. I’m far away and I’ve got to get back again. This black Mariah isn’t going to be my end. I never knew that I was still asleep Until my face done hit the ground. Life like blood can move with just a beat And without a sound It will ribbon away. I’m far away and I’ve got to get back again. This black Mariah isn’t going to be my end. I’m far away and I hope to see you, my friend Sipping tea at the edge of this world’s end. I didn’t know that I was bound below Until the sun broke on my back. I didn’t think it was time to go Until they’d already sprung the trap. These silver stairs on another day Would have led me to the gate. Now I’ll have to sit and wait Or go the other way. I’m far away and I’ve got to get back again. This black Mariah isn’t going to be my end. I’m far away and I hope to see you, my friend Sitting pretty around the other side of the bend.

I looked at the sun, burning my eyes Burning me eyes. And when I lay me down All I could see were lines. Now, now that I’m older I see them all the time. On the steps of summer Morning light is making strange. Where a shadow drapes a corner I still find a place to hide, Oh, on the steps of summer I went underground, breaking my hands Breaking my hands. And when it was over My legs wouldn’t move to stand. Now, now I’m your lover I’m trying to make amends. On the steps of summer Morning light is making strange. Where a shadow drapes a corner I still find a place to hide, Oh, on the steps of summer

Just to Feel 03:13
When I was younger I thought I knew what What I was after I thought I knew that You only need to live your life And now, oh, it takes almost all my time Just to wake up Just to let you down Just to unlock my hands Just to feel. Out but underground They’re trying to lock us down And I’m still restless going into town I try the redline, it doesn’t satisfy I need some water to wash out my tired eyes. Just to wake up Just to let you down Just to unlock my hands Just to feel Love, high, her, right.

Polarise 03:54
I see them there, your messages, Falling from the billboards onto the streets, They go under shoes, then there’s another one, She has different hair; I want to try not to see. These words on the airs, these words on the screen, They travel for miles, but they don’t reach me. I’m struggling to know how we can say so much And not say a thing. Polarise. You stand on your side of the street I’ll stand on mine And never the twain shall meet. The newspaper reads like obituaries. The Olympians are here but they’re not to be believed. Believe that one is one. Believe that you are me, Believe that we exist more than just materially. But believe what you want, it’s experience I need And I’m as light as a wing on some windward thing. Polarise. You stand on your side of the street I’ll stand on mine And never the twain shall meet. Oh let’s start a war on this old disease, You can’t speak a word without shouting louder. There’s too many names. It’s a multiplicity And we just take a side in this complicit deceit. Polarise. You stand on your side of the street I’ll stand on mine And never the twain shall meet.

I’ve been staring at you all day with what it means for me to see. I admit it doesn’t mean that much in the light of my bad ways. But when I see you up on the screen and you do what you do, I wonder at the things you know, the everyday things that you believe. Do you have something to say Or does all that need just hold you down? Do you have something to say To bring me around? I don’t care about your clothes or the games your T-shirt plays. I don’t care about your cheap parlour tricks and your red and black parade. Easy isn’t always the fix, and nor is going from pole to pole, But still I listen to your bit. What’s wrong with a little soul? Do you have something to say Or does all that need just hold you down? Do you have something to say To bring me around? There’s more to love. More than just the sunshine and the rain. I’m thinking there is more that we could be More than just good enough. Oh, my love, it’s so hard when we don’t speak. I think I’ve had enough for today, Wondering what thought you keep. I don’t mean to be absurd or hurt your feelings in any way, But it is what it is. I’m just not that brave. We could save it for another time. Do you have something to say Or does all that need just hold you down? Do you have something to say To bring me around?

Don’t you want to let the north-wind in, just to hear her sigh. Don’t you want to let the north-wind in, just to hear her mind. Open your windows and unlock the door Because you don’t need to stay this way. Stuck on the inside. All bones and bare desire. Stuck on the inside. You’re not skin. You’re not wire. You’ve been sitting there for ten long years waiting for you life. You’ve been looking for the clothes to wear some notion of your kind. There’s nothing like a fever to break down the door In this affray we nothing left to lose. Stuck on the inside. All bones and bare desire. Stuck on the inside. You’re not skin. You’re not wire. To everything there is a place. For everything there is a day. What ever comes will carve our face And leave us all the same. But I have her love. Aren’t you gonna let the sunlight in through your muddled eyes. Aren’t you gonna let the sunlight bring some life before you tire. Nights like a widow as it falls to the floor, But you don’t need to breath. Stuck on the inside. All bones and bare desire. Stuck on the inside. You’re not skin. You’re not wire.

I won’t accept my failure to make it this way. I’m on the outside. Everyday is another day. Blow, blow against your red-house Until it comes tumbling down. If only I knew what to say to make you come around. Cures and considerations Have me all wrapped up today. Here on this quiet road there shimmers light. As if all you might become might simply come this way. Cures and considerations Have me all wrapped up today. I need to fly away or get me inside. Here’s a strange revival: get over my pride. Cures and considerations Have me all wrapped up today.

Janine 03:09
She’s out hiding in the paint-works Hiding in the trees. She’s out tripping with the quiet, Slipping through the in-betweens. I’ll catch her in the evening coming back. I’ll catch her through the doorway Holding onto a coffee in the morning. In the house we built. Janine. Believe in me. There’s panic in the city. Panic in the streets. We’re out hunting for a future In a crowded scene. Is this really me? This line is going down soon. This line is going dead. The money counts for nothing. It’s the love give it’s the love get. Janine. Believe me. Revolutionary Janine. It’s you I need to find my feet. Oh, Janine. Seas and red wine. Fires in the midnight. The back streets of another life. We’re sailing through our time. She found me in coma. She found me at the crossroads. Out stumbling through the twilight. We talked until three. Janine. Believe me. Revolutionary Janine. It’s you I need to find my feet. Oh, Janine, you’ve taken over me. Oh Janine.
